Hiking isn’t just a global trend – it’s a movement (quite literally). According to estimates,
over 300 million people worldwide go hiking each year, and that figure is on the rise. From
the Alps to the Andes, and from the Rockies to the Himalaya, people are increasingly
embracing the outdoors. And gear that’s lightweight and comfortable makes it more
possible. Backpack pioneer, deuter, has been driving the industry for years. And so, a new
product for summer 2026 is naturally par for the course. The Futura Pro backpack has an
innovative new back system and clever stow options, making it perfect for modern-day
hiking.
The Futura Pro features deuter’s innovative VariClick 5-stage back length
adjustment system. Load stabilizer straps with a choice of two anchor
points ensure the pack can be adjusted for the person carrying it.
Ergonomic, padded shoulder straps that are directly connected to the
frame deliver improved load transfer and give the pack better stability.
Combined with the hip fins, they distribute the weight evenly, so the Futura
Pro offers lasting comfort on multi-day hikes.
The proven deuter Aircomfort back system is now even lighter and airier thanks to
optimized materials. The mesh back padding is extended right the way to the lumbar region
and, together with the softer mesh fabric, gives it excellent breathability and a comfortable
wrapping fit that molds to the shape of the wearer.
In addition to outstanding carrying comfort, the Futura Pro also offers clever stow options.
A large stretch pocket on the outside and two hip fin pockets are ideal for stowing important
gear, while the top-loader opening with drawcord and lid provides quick access to the main
compartment. Poles can be attached on the shoulder straps, keeping them at the ready
when needed. A dedicated bottom compartment can house wet or dirty clothing, keeping it
separate from the rest of your gear. This backpack also comes with a rain cover to protect
contents from the elements when the weather turns.
The body fabric is made from recycled materials and the pack is made without the use of
PFAS, which means the Futura Pro is also a top performer when it comes to the
environment. It is a bluesign® product, and like all deuter products since summer 2025, it
is ClimatePartner certified, underlining deuter’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing
and environmental responsibility
